“Asphaltum” is a translucent shimmering plum-brown color polish. Almost black. Its name comes from a compound used as an acid resist in copperplate etching. Real asphaltum can be painted directly onto a copperplate to prevent the acid from biting an area. For me the name conjures the sticky sweet smell of refined liquid petroleum.

One coat is sheer plum-brown, two coats appears black! Top coat recommended with glitter + shimmer polish.
